Our 8th Meeting of 2017 held on Wednesday 19th April 2017.
We welcomed two new members, Donagh and Josephine and we look forward to interacting with them over the next few months.
Two great speeches by Michael and Anne – powerful, inspiring and full of drama.
We had a great “word for the day” from Patricia, brilliant “Table Topics” from first timer Margie, great Poem by Joe and
Excellent stewardship from our toastmaster Tom Madden and general evaluator Patricia.

We had a busy night on the 1st (1st day of Spring & St Bridget’s day). Three speeches, Karl with his macabre “It’s not all about cannibalism”
Kieran with “Knockumber House” a tale about the largest Lead Zinc mine in Europe and Michael with “The Siege of Athy” a tale concerning a water metre
Special mention to Colette who wrote her own – stunning poem.

The Story of the night was – A New Year, New Start, New Room Layout, New President – Navan Toastmasters Re-energised……..
We had 3 Speeches made up of two Stage 6 Speeches one from Kieran “Business Etiquette” and one from Catherine “Say What You Mean”
This was followed by Anne with an advanced Manual speech on “Evaluation” – Evaluate to Motivate.
All brilliantly presented.
Well done to first timers Enda as Topicsmaster and Philip as Toastmaster both giving superb performances.
Our next meeting is set for Wednesday 18th January where we will have our Tall Tales competition.

Our 7th and last meeting of 2016 was held on : 7th December 2016
Our last meeting before Christmas took place on the 7th December 2016. It had a Christmas theme and was enjoyed by all.
We had 3 Speeches made up of 2 Icebreakers one from Karl “A bit about me” and one from Margie “It’s all about Family” followed by a stage 3 speech from John titled “Analyse This”.
Well done to all as the speeches were of a very high standard and well performed.
Our president Daniel Gavigan, now permanently residing in Donegal has reluctantly resigned his position due to difficulties with travel.
We wish him well and thank him for his excellent tenure as Club President.

Sixth Meeting of the NEW season: 16th November 2016

Very enjoyable evening at Navan Toastmasters Table Topics contest. Well done to all contestants and officials for contributing to such a fantastic night. Club Humorous Speech Contest and Dinner: June 2016
Navan TM held the Humorous Speech contest followed by end of year dinner. On the night we were well supported by members of Tara Phoenix, IBM and Castleknock TM Clubs. Our distinguished Guest was Donal Keating who is the new Area Govenor.
We had a very humorous after dinner speech by Barry Lane.
Patricia Foley won first place in the Humorous speech titled “Boxed In”.
Cathy Reilly was placed in 2nd place and Kieran O’Sullivan in 3rd place.
Anne McFarland was selected as Navan Toastmaster of the Year.
The new President Daniel Gavigan presented Anne with The Toastmaster of the Year Certificate.
Area 16 International Speech and Speech Evaluation Contest: April 2016
Navan Toastmasters hosted the Area 16 International Speech and Speech Evaluation Contest on April 6th, in the Ardboyne Hotel.
Mairead Murphy, Phoenix-Tara, Dunboyne Toastmaster won both Competitions, receiving the International Speech Contest trophy from Contest Chairperson Peter Finnegan. Barry Lane was place in 2nd place in both competitions.
Anne McFarland, Navan Toastmasters, was placed in 3rd place in the Speech Evaluation Contest and Ann Dardis, Pheonix-Tara, Dunboyne Toastmasters was placed in 3rd place in the International Speech Contest.
Club International Speech Contest: March 2016
Navan Toastmasters held their clubs’ International Speech Contest on March 2nd, in the Ardboyne Hotel.
Anne McFarland (centre) won first place, with Martina Coyne in 2nd place and Manus Tiernan in 3rd place. Anne and Martina will represent Navan in the Area 16 International Speech Final, which will be hosed by Navan Toastmasters in the Ardboyne Hotel on April 6th.
Area 16 Tall Tales Speech Contest: February 2016
The Area 16 Tall Tales Speech Contest was hosted by Phoenix-Tara Toastmasters Club, in the Dunboyne Castle Hotel on February 8th.
Stephen McDermott won 3rd place in the Tall Tale Speech Contest with a speech titled ‘Up up and Away’. The Contest Chair, Tony McIntyre presented Stephen with his prize.
Anne McFarland’s also participated with a speech, titled ‘The Rat and the Washing Machine’. Congratulations to both of them on their excellent performances.
Club Tall Tales Speech Contest: January 2016
Navan Toastmasters held their clubs’ Tall Tales Speech Contest on January, 20th in the Ardboyne Hotel.
Catherine Reilly, Stephen McDermott, Anne McFarland and David Houlihan participated in the Tall Tales Speech Contest. Anne McFarland and Stephen McDermott will represent Navan Toastmasters at the Area 16 Tall Tales Speech Contest, which will be held in Dunboyne Castle Hotel on February 8th.

Navan Toastmasters held their Annual Christmas Dinner on Friday, December 11th in the Ardboyne Hotel. A night of fun and some excellent entertainment was enjoyed.

Club Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest: September 2015
Navan Toastmasters held their Club Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest on September 16th, in the Ardboyne hotel. David Houlihan won the Humorous Speech contest with his speech titled ‘Fado Fado’ and Elfreda Managhan-Vaughan won the Table Topics Contest. Both David and Elfreda represented Navan TM at the Area 16 Speech finals, which was hosted by Castleknock Toastmasters Club, in the Castleknock Hotel on October 15th. Congratulations to both of them on their wonderful performances. Elfreda won 3rd place in the Table Topic Contest at the Area 16 Final in Castleknock.
Navan Toastmasters Meetings Resume: September 2015
Toastmasters meetings resumed after the break for the Summer holidays. A new committee was elected, with a few changes. Anne McFarland was elected President and Elfreda Managhan-Vaughan takes on the role of VP of Education. Kieran O’Sullivan is our new Sergeant-At-Arms and Sheila Dennehy is VP of membership. Some committee members remain in the same role as last year; David Houlihan as Treasurer, Peter Finnegan as Secretary and Martina Coyne as VP of Public Relations.

Area 16 International Speech Contest and Speech Evaluation Contest: March 2014

Navan Toastmasters held their Tall Tales Contest and their Christmas Dinner on December 18th in the Ardboyne Hotel.

Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests: October 2013
Navan Toastmasters held their Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest on October 2nd, in the Ardboyne hotel.
Sheila Dennihy, Peter Finnegan and Martina Coyne represented the Navan Club at the area finals, which were hosted by Phoenix-Tara Toastmasters in Dunboyne Castle Hotel on October 7th. Sheila Dennihy won 3rd place in the Humorous Speech Contest with her speech titled ‘The Book Launch’.

International Speech Contest: March 2013
Navan Toastmasters held their Internation Speech Contest and Speech Evaluation Contests in The Ardboyne Hotel, Navan, on March 6th, 2013.
Finian Murray and Manus Tiernan will represent the Navan Club at the International Speech Contest Area finals, due to take place on March 20th.
Clare Donnellan and Sheila Dennihy will represent the Navan Club at the Speech Evaluation Contest Area final. The Area Internation Speech and Evaluation Contest finals will be hosted by the Navan Club in the Ardboyne Hotel, on March 20th.
Social Inclusion Week: 28th October 2010
Navan Toastmasters chaired the recent public debate on Social Inclusion which was held in conjunction with Navan Career Start as part of Social Inclusion Week 2010. The debate was chaired by Joe Ledwidge.

Navan Toastmasters Meetings 2010-11 Resume
Navan Toastmasters has launched their new season with the election of a new committee. The first meeting welcomed back members and included the introduction of new members to the club. Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month between September and June.
